Family is the foundation of any society. We need our mothers AND fathers. Our nation is facing a crisis of fatherlessness–41% of our nation’s children grow up in homes without fathers (35.7% of white children and 72.3% of black children). Social science proves, time and time again, the crucial nature of intact two-parent married homes. Children are protected and are given the best opportunities of emotional, spiritual and academic development in a stable marital environment. Today’s popular culture would like to think that family can be defined in any way, but there are clear differences in outcomes for children. We don’t disparage single parents, especially those who do all they can to provide for their child(ren), on every level, but we highlight the ideal–the model that brings the most benefit to our children and to our society.
