TAMPA BAY TIMES, CREATOR OF POLITIFACT, PUBLISHES MOSTLY FALSE ARTICLE ON PLANNED PARENTHOOD.

August 2019

The same leftist, pro-abortion organization that owns the Tampa Bay Times–The Poynter Institute–is now an integral part of Facebook’s new bogus “fact-checking” initiative. On August 30th, 2019, this Poynter-led sham accused Live Action of “false” and “inaccurate information.” The fact-check was led by two abortionists (not identified, of course, as abortionists in their Facebook titles).

What happens when the news source that launched and runs Politifact, needs to be fact-checked? Politifact was launched by the St. Petersburg Times, now known as the Tampa Bay Times (TBT)—a decidedly pro-abortion newspaper. TBT doesn’t even try to hide its advocacy on behalf of Planned Parenthood. By the way, the Tampa Bay Times is owned by the leftist Poynter Institute.

North Tampa Center - Abortion Only!On December 12, 2017, TBT published an article (like many in mainstream media) that is merely an ad posing as journalism, entitled: Driven by demand, Planned Parenthood opens second clinic in Tampa. It goes on to describe the high rates of HIV in the region and how students at the University of South Florida (who already have a wide array of health services from their school) can also get them at the new Tampa clinic. The article even claims “many services are available the same day as a patient’s scheduled appointment.” The problem is…the new North Tampa Center doesn’t even pretend to be a health care facility—it only offers “abortion services”. That’s it. Nothing else.

Then, the Politifact-originator makes this claim: “Like many other health care providers, Planned Parenthood experienced a surge in patients after passage of the Affordable Care Act, though the organization is known for low rates for services to those with or without access to insurance.” Blatant lie. Planned Parenthood has been losing patients—a lot of them. Obamacare was signed into law on March 23, 2010.  In 2009-2010, prior to the ironically-named Affordable Care Act, Planned Parenthood claimed to have 3 million patients. They claimed the same for FY 2011 and 2012. Then, in FY2013, they reported a drop in over 600,000 served—from 3 million to 2.4 million reported patients. It’s the same lowered number in their latest annual report for 2016-2017. There was no surge; there was a purge. But that would be too factual for a pro-abortion news source.

Also, Planned Parenthood is known for defrauding Medicaid millions of dollars—not being a source of “low rates”. Even the Obama administration’s Department of Justice found Planned Parenthood to have committed an “abuse of programs that are extremely important to the well-being of many American women…we will remain ever vigilant to protect the interests of American taxpayers and the integrity of the Medicare and Medicaid health programs.” Planned Parenthood had to pay $4.3 million in a settlement for filing false Medicaid, Title X and other state/federal medical claims.

This is why Americans are fed up with mainstream media. Deservedly, they are branded with the label #fakenews because of journalistic junk like this.

There’s too much to fact-check in that single article, but I will end with one more TBT lie. In the desperate effort to paint Planned Parenthood as essential to America’s welfare (even though less than 0.8% of Americans are served by the abortion business), TBT claims: “The new North Tampa clinic, which opened in October, also will serve patients from Pasco and Polk counties, two regions that Planned Parenthood has identified as among the most in need because of high rates of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease, and poor access to abortion providers.” A quick Google maps search shows that there are at least 12 abortion facilities in the Tampa area. That’s “poor access”?

The only lack of access that seems to be prevalent is access to the truth. And the company that established the equally deceitful, Politifact, owes the American public more facts, less fiction.
