FREE SPEECH & RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
There is no America without Free Speech and Religious Liberty. They are the pillars of a free society and two of the most attacked enumerated rights in our Constitution. Leftists want to control people’s speech by dictating what can and cannot be said, what can and cannot be believed, and what can and cannot be shared.
Frederick Douglass said it best (as was his inimitable style) in his 1860 “A Plea for Free Speech in Boston”: “Equally clear is the right to hear. To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker. It is just as criminal to rob a man of his right to speak and hear as it would be to rob him of his money.”
We’re being robbed today by the very groups who claim to fight for equality under the law: ACLU, Human Rights Campaign, Lambda Legal, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, The Democratic Party, and the NAACP. We were sued by the NAACP, a once-great civil rights group, for exercising our First Amendment right of free speech. Calling out the organization’s radical pro-abortion policies and actions, we parodied their name to accurately describe their political position: National Association for the Abortion of Colored People. The NAACP sued us in federal court in a case that lasted for two years. They lost. And it began our very public advocacy for free speech.
